Our History
Almost a century-long history.
The Schirato Family experience dates back to 1911 when the Igea Hotel was the first in Pescara with heating system in the rooms and hot water in the bathrooms; then the Moderno Hotel in Piazza Sacro Cuore, taken up in 1936.
The Plaza Moderno Hotel, born on the ashes of the Moderno Hotel, was refurbished with very innovative features for that time, being the first hotel in Pescara with air conditioning in every room. It was opened in 1964.
In 1993, Plaza Moderno Hotel changes its name and category: it becomes Hotel Plaza, four stars, which in 1999 is affiliated to the international BEST WESTERN chain.
In 2000 the Hotel Singleton was acquired and presented in 2002 renewed in Hotel Duca d'Aosta, three stars, refurbisheusing low environmental impact criteria.
The Schirato Hotels trade-name is born with this aim.
Aimed at uniting the two hotels in one entrepreneurial style, highlighting the management philosophy of the Schirato family, always "customer-oriented".
In the 2006 already profitable relationship with BEST WESTERN Italia consolidates ulteriorly: also the Duca d’ Aosta enters in the chain. Schirato Hotels and BEST WESTERN, by now inseparable binomial in Abruzzo.
